The conference, jointly organised by the Southeast Asia Research Centre of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung of Germany, focuses on the socio-political and economic changes that have taken place in Myanmar in the wake of the 2010 elections. It will examine the prospect for further political liberalisation in the context of the reforms that have already taken place.

The conference has gathered more than 25 top scholars, political consultants, human rights activists, journalists as well as government and opposition representatives to discuss these important and timely issues. Media is welcome to attend the afternoon session of the conference on 27 January which will discuss Myanmar’s foreign relations and interview speakers. The session will be held from 2:20pm to 4:20pm at the Connie Fan Multi-media Conference Room of CityU.
