Discover the future of creativity in Hong Kong

 

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is proud to announce the establishment of Applied Laboratory for Interactive Visualization and Embodiment (ALiVE) at Hong Kong Science Park in late June, which aims to enhance the development of Hong Kong’s creative industry. To allow the media to enjoy an early preview of the opening exhibition, we would like to invite you to join our press tour. Details are as follow:

A first in Hong Kong, ALiVE is a CityU interdisciplinary research initiative of the School of Creative Media in partnership with the Department of Computer Science. It is led by Chair Professor Jeffrey Shaw, Dean of the School of Creative Media, and Dr Sarah Kenderdine, Visiting Associate Professor of the School of Creative Media and the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics. ALiVE also has a close alliance with various overseas institutions such as the UNSW iCinema Centre for Interactive Cinema Research in Sydney.

ALiVE aims to encourage the nurturing of creativity and talents, brings together the creativity and strengths of representatives from the industry players and professional bodies to formulate action plan for the development of local creative industries, in order to encourage commercial investment in Hong Kong.

An inaugural exhibition* to be held at ALiVE from 26 - 29 June provides a unique occasion to experience nine spectacular immersive environments at the frontiers of art and science. It features ground-breaking innovations in panoramic 3D cinema, embodied architecture, games and animation, digital humanities, distributed media, interactive visualization and simulation.

Considering the darkness at the exhibition venue, media are recommended to bring their own lighting accessories for photography and video shooting.
