CityUHK participates in QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2026, with dedicated booth expanding partnerships and scholars leading cutting-edge discussions

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is dedicated to advancing internationalisation and pioneering research collaboration, with a delegation of scholars and university representatives participating in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2026 in Bali, Indonesia. Held from 3 to 5 November, the summit convenes over 1,500 university leaders, government representatives and industry experts from across the Asia-Pacific region and around the world. They are exploring the profound impact of higher education on technological transformation, social sustainability and global research collaboration.
In her opening address, Ms Jessica Turner, Chief Executive Officer of QS, highlighted that higher education globally is undergoing a period of profound transformation, emphasising that universities must balance technological advancement with human-centric core values to address societal needs with tangible impact.
Several CityUHK scholars have also been invited to serve as key speakers across high-profile sessions. Professor Li Wen Jung, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) and Chair Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CityUHK, will share on 5 November the University’s successful practice in translating world-class research achievements into tangible global impact. In addition, Professor Niels Schiller, Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Linguistics and Translation, alongside Professor Adel Chaouch-Orozco from the same department, examined on 3 November the profound effects of language switching on decision-making mechanisms and cognitive resilience against brain ageing.
Furthermore, CityUHK has set up a dedicated exhibition booth on Level 1 of the summit venue (Booth L1-02), drawing delegates and scholars from premier institutions worldwide for in-depth exchanges. The booth’s signpost and globe exhibits are particularly striking, presenting CityUHK as a university rooted in Hong Kong and connected to the world, with a network of over 400 partner institutions worldwide. The CityUHK team has been introducing visitors and guests to the University’s latest developments in interdisciplinary research and diverse international exchange initiatives. These exchanges unlock potential collaboration opportunities and further reinforce CityUHK’s partnerships across the Asia-Pacific and globally.
CityUHK actively pursues the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, embedding sustainability across teaching, research and campus operations while reducing waste and promoting resource conservation. This commitment extends to the summit booth, which specially features limited-edition non-slip thermal tumblers made from upcycled coffee grounds, turning everyday waste into a practical companion. Integrating environmental awareness into everyday product design, the tumblers have become a highlight of the booth, drawing many guests to take a closer look and showcasing CityUHK’s innovative vision in championing a circular economy and green campus culture.
