CityUHK launches summer programme “Business Stream with AI Integration”, offering an international and immersive study tour experience
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) launched its 2026 summer programme, “Business Stream with AI Integration”, on 26 July, attracting students from around the world. The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr Choi Yuk-lin, Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, who joined Professor Chun-Sing Lee, Acting President of CityUHK, and CityUHK’s international student ambassadors in welcoming participants to Hong Kong for a week-long journey of digital learning and cultural exchange.
At the ceremony, Dr Choi, together with Professor Lee, Professor Julie Li Juan, Deputy Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) of CityUHK, student representatives and programme organisers, participated in a lighting ceremony to mark the official launch of the summer programme.
Dr Choi said that to support Hong Kong’s development as an international hub for post-secondary education, the Education Bureau has been actively promoting the “Study Tour in Hong Kong” brand and encouraging local universities to organise a wide range of study tour programmes that provide enriching learning experiences for students.
She noted that during the one-week programme, participants will engage with CityUHK professors and scholars through a series of academic sessions exploring the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on various industries and business models. Beyond the classroom, students will have the opportunity to experience the academic environment and residential hall life at a Hong Kong, while visits to the Legislative Council Complex, Hong Kong Science Park, the Hong Kong Palace Museum and M+ will enable them to gain insights into Hong Kong’s technological innovation, cultural heritage and urban development. Through these experiences, they will develop a deeper appreciation of the city’s unique role as a meeting point of Eastern and Western cultures.
In his welcoming remarks, Professor Lee said, “CityUHK is committed to providing vibrant and immersive learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. This programme opens a gateway for students to explore Hong Kong’s world-class higher education system and offers them an opportunity to experience the city’s dynamic and diverse culture, innovative spirit and global outlook.”
During the opening ceremony, CityUHK student representative Miss Lan Yawei shared her personal growth journey at the University and engaged in exchanges with participants alongside other international student representatives. She encouraged students to make full use of the learning and networking opportunities offered by the programme, experience Hong Kong’s multicultural environment, and explore future pathways for further study and career development.
The week-long “Business Stream with AI Integration” summer programme focuses on the application of AI in business and emerging trends in the digital economy. Key components include masterclasses delivered by CityUHK professors, fireside chats featuring industry experts and alumni, and career development workshops designed to support students’ long-term personal and professional growth. The programme also includes a series of field visits to help participants gain a multi-faceted understanding of Hong Kong.
To align with the Education Bureau’s “Study Tour in Hong Kong” initiative, CityUHK has launched a variety of themed summer programmes this year to contribute to Hong Kong’s development as an international hub for post-secondary education and to promote global academic exchange. One programme, “Innovation in & for Sustainability”, is tailored for secondary school students, focusing on low-carbon development and sustainability. Through case studies and visits to key landmarks, the programme showcases how technology and innovation are driving sustainable development.
