Honours List 2026 salutes CityUHK community members

Nearly 20 members of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) community were named on the 2026 HKSAR Honours List for their outstanding contribution to Hong Kong and their dedicated public and community service.

Dr Raymond Lee Man-chun, a CityUHK donor, was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star. Dr Lee has taken an unwavering stance in supporting the Government to uphold “One Country, Two Systems” by promoting a patriotic spirit and national security awareness that enhances the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. He has remarkable achievements in the papermaking and packaging industry and is committed to Hong Kong’s industrial development. He is a prominent philanthropist, who has made generous donations to charitable projects over the years that benefit people’s livelihood, and he has supported youth development by organising exchange tours for young people to the Chinese Mainland, including the Greater Bay Area.

The following five CityUHK members were awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star:

• Dr Tony Ko Pat-sing, CityUHK Council Member, has dedicated himself to the public healthcare system for over 30 years. During his tenure as the Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority (HA), he faced and overcame the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with fortitude. In addition, the service quality of the HA has continued to improve and various Public-Private Partnership programmes were extended under his leadership.
• Mr David Fong Man-hung, CityUHK Honorary Fellow and donor, is a keen philanthropist and is committed to charitable causes in education, elderly, childcare and medical services, poverty alleviation and social welfare across Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. He has made generous donations through his charitable foundations over the years.
• Mr Chong Chong-yip, a CityUHK donor, has consistently contributed to the community and to uniting people to serve Hong Kong, particularly in youth development, crime prevention and road safety. He is committed to social and district services by organising activities to motivate young people to participate in various welfare activities and facilitating exchange programmes for university students to Beijing since 2011.
• Mr Chaucer Leung Chung-yin, a CityUHK alumnus, retired as the Director-General of Communications / Director of Film, Newspaper and Article Administration after nearly 30 years of Government service. His leadership resulted in a number of important telecommunications policy initiatives and the creation of a more flexible and conducive operating environment for the sustainable development of the broadcasting industry.
• Professor Frankie Yeung Wai-shing, CityUHK alumnus and donor, has made significant contributions to the development of arts and culture. He has served as the Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) for a decade. His efforts have helped elevate the global positioning of HKAPA to the top institution in Asia for Performing Arts, and he has facilitated the smooth operation of HKADC with his valuable advice.

Two CityUHK members were awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star:

• Mr Ivan Tsim Hung-leung, Member of Board of Governors of CityUHK Foundation and donor, is a dedicated patriot and supporter of the Government. He has helped the families in need and promoted youth development through his network. He has organised study tours for Hong Kong youths to the Chinese Mainland, enhancing their understanding of the latest developments in the Chinese Mainland and strengthening their sense of national identity.
• Mr Roden Tong Man-lung, a CityUHK alumnus, has made significant contributions to supporting the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, the Constitution and the Basic Law. As President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, he has been dedicated to promoting legal professional exchanges and collaboration between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland. He is also devoted to advocating legal education among young people to foster social awareness and interest in law among students.

Seven CityUHK members were awarded the Medal of Honour: Ms Dilys Chau Suet-fung, Honorary Fellow, alumna and donor; donor Ms Wong Yuet-ying; four alumni: Ms Au Fung-yi, Mr Mo Shing-fung, Ms Sandy Wong Hang-yee and Mr Kenny Yuen Kin-chung; and a faculty member, Professor Dorian Ho Kwok-ching, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Media and Communication at CityUHK.

Alumna Ms Chan Chi-ling received the Chief Executive’s Commendation for Government/Public Service.

Additionally, Mr Robert Lui Chi-wang, CityUHK Council Member, alumnus and donor; and Ms Cathy Chui Chi-kay, CityUHK Court Member, were appointed as Justices of the Peace.
