CityUHK and Xiaomi Corporation sign an MoU to forge strategic partnership and drive technology breakthrough

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is committed to nurturing talent, creating knowledge, and driving global impact through innovative research, contributing to Hong Kong’s ambition to develop into an international innovation and technology centre.
Jointly advancing innovation and technology development was the focus of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between CityUHK and Xiaomi Corporation earlier. The agreement aims to foster collaboration in research, talent cultivation, and industry integration, aligning with national strategies to promote education, innovation, and high-quality development.
The MoU was signed by Professor Anderson Shum Ho-cheung, Vice-President (Research) of CityUHK, and Mr Qu Heng, Vice President and Chairman of the Technical Committee of Xiaomi Corporation.
Professor Shum emphasised that the partnership would provide unlimited opportunities for the future. “This collaboration with Xiaomi marks a pivotal moment for CityUHK in advancing global innovation. By uniting our research expertise with Xiaomi’s industry leadership, we will drive transformative technologies and nurture talent to shape the future of innovation.”
Mr Qu stated, “Xiaomi looks forward to establishing a close partnership with CityUHK through this opportunity, integrating resources and enhancing collaborative efforts to jointly promote research innovation and talent development, achieving breakthroughs in cutting-edge technology together.”
The MoU establishes a strategic framework to deepen academic-industry collaboration, encouraging innovation and knowledge exchange. By leveraging CityUHK’s research strengths and Xiaomi’s industry expertise, the partnership seeks to explore new opportunities in technology development and talent nurturing, contributing to technological and economic progress while enhancing Hong Kong’s role as an international innovation and technology centre.
