Ankara University partnership fortifies Türkiye ties
A new strategic academic partnership aimed at promoting global academic exchange and strengthening institutional collaboration has been launched by City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and Ankara University in Türkiye, contributing to global well-being under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Ankara University, ranked 2nd in Türkiye, is the first higher education institution established in Türkiye following the founding of the Republic, is a comprehensive university renowned for its strengths in medicine, humanities, and social sciences. Its excellence in medicine and veterinary science aligns seamlessly with CityUHK’s academic development priorities. This collaboration opens a new chapter for both institutions in interdisciplinary research and talent cultivation.
This initiative will facilitate the exchange of academic, research, and administrative staff, offering professional development opportunities through training workshops, research attachments, and collaborative activities. It supports student mobility via a master’s degree pathway and PhD admissions for outstanding graduates, with potential scholarship opportunities.
The partnership encompasses joint PhD supervision, co-development of teaching programmes, and collaborative research in areas of mutual interest. Both institutions will exchange institutional publications to foster transparency and shared learning. This collaboration marks a significant step towards building a vibrant academic bridge between Hong Kong and Türkiye.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the Global Sustainable Development Summit (GSDC) 2025, co-hosted by Türkiye’s Council of Higher Education and convened by Times Higher Education, with a strong focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sustainability.
