Three world-class research centres have been established by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in collaboration with renowned scholars from all around the world and research institutes under InnoHK, a vital initiative of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to develop Hong Kong as a hub for global research collaboration.

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today (11 November) for launching collaborative programmes in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and further promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) announced earlier the launch of “HK Tech 300”, a large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme, with an allocation of HK$500 million, which has attracted increasing attention. The third cohort seed fund received an overwhelming response in terms of applications. After careful selection by the panel members, 87 start-up teams were selected to receive HK$100,000 each in seed funding under HK Tech 300, which will help them to turn their creative ideas into reality and embark on their entrepreneurship journey.

On 18 October 2021, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and China Resources Enterprise Limited (CRE) signed the official agreement to co-establish an innovation and entrepreneurship platform.

Two HK Tech 300 start-up teams won the champion and the second runner-up in the Hong Kong Chapter of “Maker in China” SME Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Contest 2021. Both teams were supported by seed funding from HK Tech 300, a large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme launched by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) in March, with an allocation of HK$500 million.

Following its earlier announcement of the launch of the flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme “HK Tech 300” with an allocation of HK$500 million, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) held today (29 July) the HK Tech 300 Seed Fund Presentation Ceremony, presenting seed funds with the total sum of HK$6.5 million.

Dr Lee Kai-fu, an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration from City University of Hong Kong (CityU), a world-renowned AI expert, and Chairman and CEO of Sinovation Ventures, delivered a talk, titled “How AI will Transform the World”, in the latest CityU Distinguished Lecture Series on 16 July.

To help students, alumni, and researchers transform their ideas into start-ups, CityU launched HK Tech 300, a large flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme in March 2021, with an investment of HK$500 million. HK Tech 300 aspires to be the No. 1 university-based entrepreneurship platform in Asia, creating 300 start-ups in three years.

Recently, CityU shone again in the top 100 worldwide universities granted US utility patents by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).
