Prof. Thuc Hue Ly (李淑惠) is currently a Full Professor at the department of chemistry, City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). She is also a core member in Center of Super Diamond and Advance Films (COSDAF), State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Health (SKLMEH), Hong Kong Institute for Clean Energy (HKICE), CityUHK. She earned her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Ho Chi Minh University of Technology, Vietnam National University (VNU) in 2010, where she developed a strong passion for inorganic chemistry. She later moved to Korea and obtained her Ph.D. in Department of Energy Science, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Young Hee Lee, focusing on 2D materials. From 2015 to 2017, she served as a research fellow at the Center for Integrated Nanostructure Physics, Institute for Basic Science. In August 2017, she joined City University of Hong Kong. In 2022, she received the NSFC Excellent Young Scientists Award and was elected as an IAAM Fellow, also receiving the IAAM Scientist Medal in 2024, IAAM Lifetime-Fellow in 2026. Her team has garnered several awards at international exhibitions, including ICAN 2023, 2024, 2025 as well as the 49th, 50th, 51st International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva (IEIG).

- Synthesis of high-quality 2D materials and nanomaterials
- Defect engineering of 2D materials and nanomaterials
- Designing advanced electronic and optoelectronic devices using 2D materials for the semiconductor industry
- Studying energy and environmental science with the application of 2D materials
