Prof. Xu Jijian was named 2026 Asian Young Scientist Fellow. He is the only scholar from Hong Kong among the 12 young scientists selected across Asia this year.

The AYSF Committee acknowledges Prof. Jijian Xu's research focusing on advanced battery materials and electrolytes for sustainable energy technologies. AYSF would like to support his research on reversible multi-electron conversion in Chalcogen cathodes. Prof. Xu will receive US$100,000 over two years to support their research, along with participation in the AYSF annual conference and academic activities, and access to a network of young scientists across Asia and the world.

Prof. Xu has received several awards and honours for his work, including the 2025 Croucher Innovation Award, the 2024 “Elite Youth” Award from the Chinese Chemical Society, the Materials Today Rising Star Award, the Advanced Science “Rising Stars” recognition, and the Battery Division Postdoctoral Associate Research Award from The Electrochemical Society.
