Department of Neuroscience Plays Pivotal Role in APSN-FAONS-HKSN 2026 Neuroscience Conference

The College of Biomedicine (CBM) is delighted to highlight the pivotal role played by the Department of Neuroscience (NS) in driving the success of the joint APSN-FAONS-HKSN 2026 Neuroscience Conference, held at the Cheung Kung Hai Conference Centre of the University of Hong Kong from 23 to 26 August 2026. The three-and-a-half-day scientific conference brought together over 400 leading neuroscientists, clinical researchers, and scholars from across the globe, serving as a vibrant platform for cutting-edge dialogue spanning basic, translational, and clinical neuroscience.

The conference featured an exceptional scientific lineup of internationally renowned experts, headlined by keynote lectures from Professor Hailan Hu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Graham Collingridge, FRS, co-recipient of the 2016 Brain Prize. The programme addressed critical emerging domains, including neural circuit mechanisms, advanced neurotechnology, neurodegenerative disease pathways, social neuroscience, and molecular neuroscience.

NS provided decisive leadership throughout the conference lifecycle, bridging overarching scientific direction with seamless on-the-ground organisation. Professor Wing Ho Yung spearheaded the overall event as Chair of the Main Organising Committee. Professor Kwok On Lai, Co-Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee, curated a rigorous and diverse lineup of programme and special sessions, while Professor Geoffrey C. Y. Lau, Co-Chair of the Local Organising Committee, oversaw local arrangements and participant engagement. Beyond their organisational roles, departmental scholars contributed actively as speakers, chairs, and session participants.

Aligned with the College's core mission of nurturing future leaders, the Department's postgraduate and postdoctoral community was strongly represented. Many students and postdoctoral fellows presented their findings during poster sessions, engaged in rich discussions with international leaders, and established valuable professional networks. The successful delivery of this flagship international conference underscores the University's growing global footprint in brain science and its continued commitment to advancing collaborative research across fundamental and translational neuroscience.
