CBM Visit to Nanyang Technological University for the CBM Summer Undergraduate Research Programme 2026

The CBM Summer Undergraduate Research Programme is an eight-week summer research attachment that provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to undertake supervised research at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, either within the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine or the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. Participating students engaged in full-time research (minimum 40 hours per week) under NTU faculty supervision, strengthening research competencies and subject-specific expertise. This year, 14 students from the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) joined the research programme to broaden their understanding of specific research areas within biomedicine.

On 22 July 2026, our College management team, including Prof. Isaiah ARKIN, Dean of the College of Biomedicine, Prof. Chenjie XU, Associate Dean (Research), Prof. Gigi LO, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education), and Prof. Geoffrey LAU, Associate Dean (Postgraduate Education), undertook a strategic visit to the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at NTU to express CBM's appreciation for their support of the programme.

The CBM management team was warmly received by Prof. Joseph SUNG, Dean of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Prof. Faith CHIA, Vice Dean (Education), and Prof. Yusuf ALI, Vice Dean (International Relations). The dialogue focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration, including expanding student research attachments, developing joint educational initiatives, and fostering faculty-to-faculty research partnerships.

Following the discussions with NTU's senior management, the CBM team also connected with CityUHK students undertaking summer research attachments at NTU, as well as with their supervisors. In addition to learning about the students' progress and experiences at NTU, this served as a valuable platform for CBM and NTU to exchange views and explore potential avenues for further research collaboration.
