CBM's First Summer Camp for Future Biomedical Talent

9 July 2026

The College of Biomedicine (CBM) successfully concluded its inaugural Summer Camp 2026, marking the launch of a new initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation of biomedical talent. Held from 7 to 8 July, the two-day camp brought together around 80 secondary students who are progressing to S5 and S6 from leading local and international schools. The event provided an excellent platform for participants to explore higher education opportunities and gain first-hand exposure to the frontiers of biomedicine.

The inspiring journey commenced with welcoming remarks from Professor Isaiah Arkin, Dean of CBM, and Professor Gigi Lo, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Education). In the opening lecture, Professor Arkin shared insights on how we combat viruses, while Professor Bing Fu, Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering, introduced the importance of the microscopic world. Concluding the lecture series, Professor Jin Young Kim engaged the students with a fascinating exploration into the science of sleep before examinations.

Moving from theory to practice, participants visited CBM's laboratories and took part in hands-on experiments conducted under expert guidance. The camp wrapped up with an interactive dialogue session, providing participants with valuable opportunities to engage directly with CBM professors and current undergraduates to gain practical insights into academic pathways and the vibrant campus life at CityUHK.

CBM is delighted to play a role in nurturing future scientific talent and looks forward to welcoming these bright young minds into the biomedical community in the near future.
