CBM Celebrates the University’s First Recipient of the Institute of Philanthropy Medical and Health Scholarship-cum-Fellowship for Top Talent in the Mainland

The College is pleased to announce that Ms. WANG Yaojie, a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering, has been awarded the Institute of Philanthropy Medical and Health Scholarship cum Fellowship for Top Talent in the Mainland, becoming the first recipient of this prestigious scheme.

Established in March 2024 by the National Health Commission (NHC) and the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP), the Hong Kong Jockey Club Medical and Health Scholarship cum Fellowship for Top Talent in the Mainland (the “Initiative”) aims to advance medical and health professional training in the Mainland. Each year, the Initiative supports outstanding medical and healthcare professionals at various levels of study, ranging from Master’s and doctoral programmes to post doctoral training. For the 2025/26 cohort, the NHC has identified four national priority areas: medical research, public health (including global health), life sciences, and health administration/management. The PhD programme in biomedical engineering offered by the College of Biomedicine is among the selected programmes of City University of Hong Kong approved for funding in this cohort.

Ms. Wang is an Attending Physician specialising in cardiothoracic surgery at the People’s Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. She holds a Master’s degree from Fudan University, and her research interests focus on cardiac and major vascular diseases.
