CBM Seminar Series – Smart Microscopy: Towards Volumetric Live, Anti-noise, and Beyond
The College of Biomedicine was pleased to host Professor Dong Li, Xinghua Chair Professor and New Cornerstone Investigator at the School of Life Science, Tsinghua University, as a distinguished speaker in the CBM Seminar Series on 12 January 2026.
Professor Li’s research focuses on the development of super resolution microscopy (SIM) for high speed and long term live cell imaging, as well as its applications in biological research. His group integrates advances in microscope hardware with algorithmic software, including deep learning–based approaches, to push the boundaries of super resolution live cell imaging.
In his talk entitled “Smart Microscopy: Towards Volumetric Live, Anti noise, and Beyond” Professor Li addressed a long standing challenge in optical microscopy: how to achieve high fidelity, quantitative spatiotemporal imaging while minimizing photobleaching and phototoxicity. He presented recent advances in intelligent microscopy that synergize innovative optical designs with computational algorithms to enable long term, multi colour imaging of fragile and rapidly evolving subcellular processes at ultrahigh spatiotemporal resolution. The seminar stimulated active discussion and highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing major neurological disorders.
