CBM Research Talk: Semiconductor Nanomembranes for Organ-on-Chips, Wearables, and Implantable Applications

22 October 2025

The College of Biomedicine invited Professor Hoang-Phuong Phan from the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and the Sir William Tyree Foundation Institute of Health Engineering, UNSW Sydney, to deliver a talk titled “Semiconductor Nanomembranes for Organ-on-Chips, Wearables, and Implantable Applications.”

Prof. Phan shared his team’s recent advances in engineering flexible nanomembrane semiconductors such as silicon and silicon carbide for biomedical systems. His work spans organ-on-chip platforms for disease modeling, wearable sensors for home-based health monitoring, and implantable devices for chronic disease management. The talk offered valuable insights into how semiconductor nanotechnology can drive the next generation of biomedical innovation.
