CBM Seminar Series – Anti-(brain) aging pharmacology for the treatment of neurological disorders
On 22 September 2025, the College of Biomedicine was delighted to host Prof. Ho Owen KO, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics and Assistant Dean (Research), Faculty of Medicine, CUHK, for a seminar entitled “Anti-(Brain) Aging Pharmacology for the Treatment of Neurological Disorders.”
Prof. KO introduced strategies and clinical trials aimed at counteract aging. In mouse models, treatment with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist was shown to halt systemic age-related changes. Through his clinical research on cerebral small vessel disease and large vessel occlusion, Prof. KO has demonstrated approaches that may inform generalized strategies for combating age-related brain conditions. The seminar generated lively exchanges with faculty and students, fostering ideas for future collaboration and research directions, particularly in translating basic scientific insights into clinical applications.
