CBM Seminar Series: Repair, Regeneration and Functional Reconstruction after Central Nervous System Injury
On 8 September 2025, the College of Biomedicine successfully hosted a seminar titled “Repair, Regeneration and Functional Reconstruction after Central Nervous System Injury”, delivered by Professor Yi LI, Principal Investigator at the Institute of Neuroscience (ION), Chinese Academy of Science. Despite the hoisting of Typhoon Signal No. 8, the seminar was swiftly moved online via Zoom and still attracted over 80 participants, reflecting the strong interest in the topic among our academic community.
Professor LI shared his cutting-edge research on restoring the lost functions after spinal cord and other CNS injuries. Drawing on his extensive experience in gene editing, cell therapy, and brain-computer interfaces, he discussed major challenges in axon regeneration and functional recovery, while highlighting promising strategies for rebuilding neural circuitry. The seminar provided valuable insights into the future of regenerative medicine.
