CBM-AI Forum: Biomedicine Meets AI – Innovate, Integrate, Impact
The 1st CBM-AI Forum, jointly organized by the College of Biomedicine and the Hong Kong Institute
of AI for Science (HKAI-Sci), was successfully held on 16 July 2025 at CityUHK. The forum explored how
cutting-edge AI technologies are driving breakthroughs in biomedicine.
The forum featured three inspiring talks:
Prof. Jianzhu MA (Associate Professor and doctoral supervisor at AIR Tsinghua University)
introduced PocketXMol, an all-atom generative model with applications in multiple fields, including cancer
and infectious diseases.
Prof. Yuying ZHANG (Research Assistant Professor, Department of Data Science, CityUHK) presented
APEX, a novel framework that integrates artificial intelligence, chemogenomics, and organoid-based
validation to accelerate and enhance therapeutic discovery.
Prof. Chia-Hung CHEN (Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, CityUHK) showcased
i-droplet, an intelligent microfluidic platform supporting large-scale isolation of IRCs for comprehensive
molecular and functional analysis.
The forum sparked engaging discussions on AI-driven precision medicine and translational research, marking
a strong start to the CBM-AI Forum series and reinforcing CityUHK’s commitment to cross-disciplinary
innovation.
