The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS), successfully hosted a seminar on Applications of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) in Medical Testing on 26 November 2025 at CityUHK.

The event attracted nearly 300 registrants, highlighting strong interest among professionals in the medical laboratory technology sector. Prof. Yu Huang, Head of BMS, delivered an insightful opening speech that set the tone for the day and emphasised the transformative potential of NGS in modern medical testing.

The seminar featured distinguished speakers, including:

  • Prof. Bing Yu (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital & University of Sydney)
  • Dr Edmond Ma Shiu-kwan (Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital)
  • Prof. Lam Ching-wan (Queen Mary Hospital, The University of Hong Kong)

Participants enjoyed an excellent opportunity to expand their knowledge and network with industry leaders, further enhancing the department’s visibility within the MLT community.

We look forward to continuing these important discussions at future events.
