Chair Professor/Professor/Associate Professor [Ref. B/361/09]

The Department of Media and Communication invites applications for faculty appointment at the rank of Chair Professor/Professor/Associate Professor beginning in January 2021. Specialization sought is open, with preferred areas including Mass Communication, Digital and Social Media, Visual Communication, and Marketing and Strategic Communication.


Duties
The appointees will work in one of the areas described below; and are expected to conduct quality research, seek external funding, teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, develop curriculum, supervise students, and undertake administrative and service-related activities.


Requirements
A PhD in Communication or a closely related field from a globally accredited institution. The appointees for Chair Professor/Professor should command a superb record of scholarly achievements and exert leadership in the field of media and communication. The appointees for Associate Professorshould have an outstanding record of scholarly achievements in both teaching and research, a strong record in research grant and/or academic management expertise.


The appointees are expected to work well with colleagues. Preference will be given to those who are willing to teach skills-oriented courses; and possess industrial experience or particular expertise in Journalism, TV Production, Graphic Design, Digital Media Planning, Data Analytics, Marketing and Strategic Communication, or Social Media Management.


Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.

Visiting Professor/Visiting Associate Professor/Visiting Assistant Professor [Ref. B/R/879/09]

The Department of Media and Communication invites applications for the above non-tenure track posts with preferred areas in Mass Communication, Internet-related Communication, News Broadcast, Journalism or Documentary Production. The duration of visiting appointment will be for one semester or one year commencing from September 2020 or January 2021.


Duties
Teach 2-3 courses per semester and undertake other related administrative duties.


Requirements
A PhD degree/equivalent qualification and relevant experience in related areas. Candidates may be requested to supply samples of written/production work. Faculty members in peer institutions on sabbatical leave are encouraged to apply.


Salary and Conditions of Service
Salary offered will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Terms of appointment will be based on the current visiting remuneration package.
