Admission Arrangements and Entrance Requirements

Direct application is the non-JUPAS route for those applicants who do not have Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) results, or have those results but also possess other qualifications. As direct applicants are selected based on a variety of qualifications, which may include GCE System, International Baccalaureate, Post-Secondary Study, Non-local/Overseas Qualification, selection is made on an individual basis. Performance in selection interviews, where applicable, is also an important assessment criterion.


Admission to First-Year Studies (Four-Year Curriculum)

Applicants holding a 12-year school-leaving qualification or a partially completed sub-degree qualification may apply for admission to the first-year studies in the Department with an undeclared major (Non-JUPAS code: 1106). They will enter a major after one year of study.

Admission with Advanced Standing

Students with a recognised qualification may be admitted to the University with advanced standing.

Direct/non-JUPAS applicants considered for Advanced Standing II admission are expected to have the following qualifications:


BA Media and Communication (BAMDCM)

  • An associate degree, a higher diploma, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution, and
  • A CGPA of at least 3.0 at higher diploma or associate degree level, and
  • Attained at least Level 3 or above in HKDSE English Language and Chinese Language or equivalent qualification

BA Digital Television and Broadcasting (BATVB)

  • An associate degree, a higher diploma, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution, and
  • A CGPA of at least 3.0 at higher diploma or associate degree level
