Online Professional Psychological Counselling

With the pandemic disrupting the face-to-face interactions with CityU students, Counselling Team of Student Development Services has swiftly adapted its professional psychological counselling services through Zoom or by 24-hour hotline to ease students’ psychological burdens, under the guidance of Professor Eric Chui, Dean of Students. Our caring support has also reached out to outbound exchange programme students and overseas students who were unable to return to Hong Kong due to quarantine and travel restrictions. It is encouraging to receive positive feedback from students who showed appreciation of the support and care given by counsellors.

Counselling Team also cares for the needs of students with special educational needs, who have been provided with individual consultations, training workshops and social gatherings through Zoom.

Online Soft Skills Training Workshops

Counselling Team has been providing students with workshops on soft skills training via Zoom since March 2020. The workshops cover various topics, including how to stay positive at the difficult time and how to overcome procrastination in handling academic tasks. Counselling Team also coordinated a series of online special training workshops for graduating students to enhance their psychological readiness for job searching.

To help students learn to understand and manage their emotions, the information provided on the Counselling Service website (https://www.cityu.edu.hk/sds/web/counselling.shtml) are also strengthened.
