CityU Virtual Undergraduate Open Day 2022

In view of the severe COVID epidemic situation, the CityU Undergraduate Open Day 2022 went online on Saturday, 19 March 2022. The School of Law arranged a series of seminars, sharing sessions and admission talk to let the participants have a deeper understanding of the School and to provide as much as information about the legal profession and legal education offered by the School.

Prof TAN Cheng-Han, SC

Prof TAN Cheng-Han, SC (Dean and Chair Professor of Commercial Law, CityU School of Law) first welcomed the participants, following by his talk on “Becoming a Lawyer in a Drastically Changing World”.  He indicated that the job security has already become an issue since 10 years ago and is going to get worse in the changing society.  On this point, he conveyed that the School’s strategic direction is to actively thinking of what legal practice is going to look like in the future, and tailor-made the education which will secure a much better future for every of our graduates.

Mr Griffin TUNG

Mr Griffin TUNG (Current LLB Student, CityU School of Law) gave a sharing session on “The Life of a Law Student at CityU”.  He shared his perception about the law school before and after becoming a CityU law student.  Griffin also pointed out that the law schools in Hong Kong are equally good, and that people who want to study law will need to be ready for abstract and concrete reasoning, develop good time management and common sense, and be ready to advocate and read in English.

Ms Ruby LEUNG

Ms Ruby LEUNG (LLB Graduate, CityU School of Law) talked on “Success Story - Law Alumnus Sharing”.  She shared her career path and her experience of studying at School of Law.  She gave a whole picture of how to handle the study, what kinds of supports she received from the School, as well as the application for internships.  As a trainee solicitor at Mayer Brown, she especially introduced her work experience and job duties as well as the differences between various positions in the field of law.
