Prof Xin Sunny WANG, representing Hong Kong, spoke at the American Physical Society (APS) and Asia-Pacific Physics Leaders Summit. The summit, held on March 3, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, served as a prelude to the APS March Meeting, the largest event in the physics community, attracting thousands of physicists and students from around the globe.

The focus of the summit was on various critical areas, including outreach activities, education and career initiatives, the upcoming International Year of Quantum Science & Technology (IYQ2025), research principles, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and fostering research connections. The event brought together esteemed representatives from countries and regions such as Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Nepal, Taiwan, and Uzbekistan, and organizations such as APS and the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies (AAPPS).

In his speech, Prof Wang shared valuable insights on the key physics activities in Hong Kong and discussed the challenges and opportunities in advancing physics in the region. His address highlighted the importance of international collaboration and the need for a collective effort to push the boundaries of scientific discovery.

The summit also featured welcoming remarks from Prof. Young-Kee Kim, the 2024 President of APS, who emphasized the significance of international collaboration in physics. As APS celebrated its 125th Anniversary in 2024, the summit underscored the organization's commitment to fostering a global community of physicists dedicated to expanding human knowledge and understanding of the universe.
