Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Neutron Scattering Science and Technology Joint Laboratory, co-established by CityU and the Institute of High Energy Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was officially commissioned on 15 January 2020.  The Principal Investigators (PIs) included Professor Xun-Li Wang, Professor Bao Wei and Dr. Liu Qi. The launch of the Joint Laboratory revealed the milestone of CityU contributing to the scientific advancement in the region.

Research on neutron scattering is important for materials science, biology and chemistry. Being the only laboratory specialized in neutron scattering research in Hong Kong, this joint laboratory puts the city into a better position to serve the Greater Bay Area in multidisciplinary fundamental and applied researches for science and technology development.

It is expected that the laboratory will have close collaboration with the China Spallation Neutron Source in Dongguan on training high-level professionals as well as other national research projects and facilities.

More information about the laboratory is also available from the press release issued by CAS (Chinese only):
