Two Successful Live Information Sessions on Master’s Programmes for Prospective Mainland Students

The College of Science (CSCI)’s Master’s programmes delegates met with prospective students online at the two live information sessions held on 17 January and 22 February 2024, sharing the latest admission information.

Moderated by Professor Kenneth Leung, the College’s Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Education), and Professor Denver Li, the College’s Mainland Recruitment Coordinator, the first info session connected over 1,000 prospective students in the mainland.

The below programmes’ delegates provided mainland students with first-hand information on the curricula, unique features, admission tips and learning experience of their related master’s programmes:

  • Professor Liang Dai, Programme Leader of MSc in Applied Physics;
  • Professor Jinfeng Xu, Programme Leader of MSc in Biostatistics;
  • Professor Heng Lian, Programme Leader of MSc in Financial Mathematics and Statistics;
  • Professor Zhanxi Fan, Admission Tutor of MSc in Chemistry.

The valuable experience in programme application and research practice, as well as handy tips living in Hong Kong is shared by Miss Yanyu Li, a current student of MSc in Chemistry. Mr Haowei Fan, an MSc in Applied Physics graduate who is now pursuing PhD study in the same department, also shared his memorable moments of study at CityU, e.g., classmates would gather to do final exam revision, hoping for good results together.

The second info session achieved a record of over 7,400 views online. Apart from Professor Lian and Professor Fan, Professor Yu Chai, Deputy Programme Leader of MSc in Applied Physics, and Professor Yi Yang, Programme Tutor of MSc in Biostatistics, also joined the session as speakers. The chat box was overwhelmed with questions raised by the audience throughout the Q&A session. Prospective students were encouraged to email related departments directly for more admission information about each programme.

Video recaps of the event are now available. Seize the chance to apply for the programmes before the deadline.
