Chinese calligraphy, paintings and seal carvings displayed at CityU Library

The Run Run Shaw Library at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is hosting an exhibition of more than 40 artworks of calligraphy, paintings and seal carvings by three acclaimed Chinese artists as part of its series of out-of-classroom activities to enhance the humanities and arts.

“The Enchanting Art of Brush and Stone: An Exhibition of Chinese Calligraphy, Painting, and Seal Carvings” features the work of Mr Liao Yahui, Mr Liao Fuxiang and Mr Zhang Youzhu. The artists presented two artworks to CityU at a ceremony yesterday (11 January), including a painting they created together, and a book collection seal created by Mr Liao Fuxiang. Professor Arthur Ellis, CityU Provost, and Professor Roderick Wong Sue-cheun, Vice-President (Development and External Relations), received the painting and the seal respectively on behalf of the University.

In addition, the three artists conducted a workshop after the presentation ceremony, demonstrating the beauty of the three art forms to the Chinese judges who recently commenced their studies on the Master of Laws (LLM) programme at CityU.
