The Indra and Harry Banga Gallery of CityUHK is delighted to announce the groundbreaking exhibition “Might and Magnificence: Ceremonial Arms and Armour across Cultures.” As part of CityUHK’s 30th anniversary celebrations, the exhibition features nearly 200 ceremonial weapons and armors that span various cultures, countries, religions, and histories, revealing the true essence of ceremonial arms and armour—not merely as functional weapons, but also as profound symbols of cultural and social identity.
CityUHK and UNCTAD sign an MoU to enhance partnership and cooperation on a sustainable future

CityUHK participated in the 29th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku, Azerbaijan, between 14 and 16 November. On November 15, CityUHK signed an MoU with the United Nations Trade and Development to promote sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region and the rest of the world.

Thirty-two scholars from CityUHK were named Highly Cited Researchers 2024 by Clarivate, placing the University 29th globally, a leap of 15 places from last year. CityUHK was also ranked 8th in Asia and 2nd in Hong Kong. In terms of faculty size, the percentage of the world’s most Highly Cited Researchers put CityUHK first in Hong Kong for the ninth consecutive year.

Nineteen academic subjects at CityUHK were ranked in the top 50 in the world, according to the ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024. Notably, Library & Information Science was ranked 1st in the world, Public Administration was ranked 8th globally, and Energy Science & Engineering was ranked 9th in the world, reflecting CityUHK’s outstanding capabilities and further affirming its excellence. This underscores Hong Kong’s reputation as one of the best cities for studying abroad.
Eight scholars from CityUHK awarded research funding totalling over HK$10 million from the NSFC and RGC

Three research projects by CityUHK outstanding scholars have been awarded funding under the 2024/25 NSFC and RGC Collaborative Research Scheme, amounting to over HK$8.8 million. The number of funded projects for this exercise at CityUHK was tied for the highest in Hong Kong. Additionally, five CityUHK scholars have been awarded funding from the 2024/25 NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme, with total funding exceeding HK$6 million.

CLASS hosted a signature event, titled “CityUHK as a Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Hub – from Sham Shui Po to the World”, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CityUHK on 18 October. Hundreds of guests, CityUHK faculty members and students exchanged insights and discussed the past and future roadmap of Hong Kong as a Sino-Foreign cultural exchange hub.
