CityUHK wins 17 awards at the 5th Asia Exhibition of Innovations & Inventions Hong Kong
City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) excelled at the 5th Asia Exhibition of Innovations & Inventories Hong Kong (AEII) by winning 17 awards, including 1 Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury Award, 6 Gold Medals, 7 Silver Medals, and 3 Bronze Medals, further affirming the University’s leading position in innovative research across Asia and globally.
Professor Michael Yang Mengsu, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise) of CityUHK, congratulated the winning CityUHK teams and expressed delight that HK Tech 300 start-ups were among the awardees. He believed that the University’s support for these start-ups is making a positive impact in translating research outcomes into real-world benefits for society and the global community.
“CityUHK’s outstanding accomplishments at the AEII reflect our strength in innovative teaching and research, and will further consolidate the University's leading position in innovative research across Asia and the world,” Professor Yang said. “We will continue to support promising start-ups through HK Tech 300 and other initiatives, promote local research development, and leverage the strengths and resources of Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland to transform the University's research outcomes into practical solutions that address pressing global challenges.”
Four start-ups under the CityUHK’s large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme HK Tech 300 won 3 medals, including 2 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal. Notably, one of the gold-medal inventions was jointly developed by two HK Tech 300 start-up companies.
The 5th AEII was held on 4 and 5 December, bringing together experts and inventors from around the world and featuring a total of 137 groundbreaking innovations in Asia. CityUHK showcased 17 projects at the exhibition, demonstrating the University’s interdisciplinary research strengths to leading researchers and start-ups from various regions.
