AC2 named after Dr Li Dak-sum and Ms Yip Yio-chin

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has named Academic 2 as “Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin Academic Building” in appreciation of the support and generous donations of Dr Li Dak-sum and his wife Ms Yip Yio-chin.

A naming luncheon held on 28 April was attended by Dr Li with his family and friends, Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming, Council Chairman; Professor Way Kuo, President; Professor Arthur Ellis, Provost; Professor Lu Jian, Vice-President (Research and Technology); Professor Horace Ip Ho-shing, Vice-President (Students Affairs); Professor Matthew Lee Kwok-on, Vice-President (Development and External Relations); Mr Sunny Lee Wai-kwong, Vice-President (Administration); and Ms Kathy Chan Yin-ling, Associate Vice-President (Development and Alumni Relations).     

Mr Hu and Professor Kuo thanked Dr Li on behalf of the University for his contribution to the development of the School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) and the University.

To mark this meaningful occasion, a plaque was installed on the ground floor of Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin Academic Building.

A successful entrepreneur and highly respected philanthropist, Dr Li is committed to public service for the betterment of society, especially in the field of education.

In March 2015, he and his wife made a donation of HK$100 million to set-up the “Li Dak Sum & Yip Yio Chin Development Fund for Veterinary Medicine” in support of the development of CityU’s SVM.
