Toxic threats to health debated at international symposium

Better ways to manage public health is among the main topics of discussion at the 15th International Symposium on Toxicity Assessment (ISTA15) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).

Organised by the Department of Biology and Chemistry, the meeting provides a platform for about 300 scientists and professionals to exchange ideas on chemicals of global and emerging concern, toxicity assessment using biomarkers and bio-indicators, environmental safety and public health, and remediation and mitigation technologies.

Officiating guests at the opening ceremony on 4 July included Professor Way Kuo, CityU President, Professor Christian Blaise, ISTA15 International Coordinator, Professor Istvan Horvath, Head of the Department of Biology and Chemistry at CityU, and Dr Doris Au Wai-ting, Chairman of the symposium and Associate Professor in the same department. The conference will run from 3-8 July.
