Elderly students enjoy hostel life

Ellen Chan

Twenty-five energetic elderly students, aged 60 to 73, joined a two-day camp organised by the Elder Academy of City University of Hong Kong (CityU), to experience the fun of living in the student residence complex. They participated in a series of seminars organised by the Department of Applied Social Studies, about living a fulfilling life and visited a social service centre to learn more about their organisation.

The Elderly Academy, established by CityU last September, is an initiative of the Elderly Commission and the Labour and Welfare Bureau to provide an opportunity for senior citizens to enjoy university education as students. This activity is fully sponsored by Mr Wilfred Ng Sau-kei, JP, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Yan Chai Hospital.
