Natural spider silk is well known for its toughness, high strength and high elongation capability, which makes it an excellent material for many applications in the apparel, automotive, defence and space industries. However, because of the unique living habits of spiders and their low silk productivity, it is very difficult to realise the mass production of natural spider silk. Thus artificial spider silk has long been a dream for many scientists and industries. This project uses amino acid as the raw material to synthesise polyurethane to realise the mass-production of artificial protein-like polymers for fibre spinning, providing high-performance artificial spider silk. Then we are interested in cooperating with enterprises or institutions to start up a high-end customisation business and expand the market for artificial silk products for parachutes, high-end clothing, and so forth.
