Insurance
Insurance is Mandatory
- Non-local students must have adequate insurance for the entire study period at CityU.
- The insurance should, at minimum, cover travel, personal accidents, medical expenses (accident and non-accident), hospitalisation, and emergency evacuation/repatriation.
- It is recommended that students also discuss with their insurer whether their policy will provide coverage to strikes, riots, civil commotion, and diseases, including but not limited to COVID-19.
- Students are advised to take out a travel and medical insurance policy before departing for Hong Kong.
CityU-contracted Insurance Plan
- The CityU-contracted insurance plan is available to all non-local students and provides relatively basic coverage, including personal accident and medical benefits. However, it does not include general medical consultation or outpatient coverage.
- Students who wish to buy additional insurance may enrol in this plan. For comprehensive protection, students should purchase insurance policies on the market that meet their specific needs.
- Please note that insurance coverage will only become effective after the student has enrolled in the University and paid the insurance premium in full.
- Students are strongly advised to read through the insurance leaflet to decide if the CityU-contracted insurance plan suits their needs.
