Alumni Achievement: Congratulations to Mr. Charles CHAN Appointed as Senior Counsel
CityUHK School of Law is delighted to share that alumnus Mr. Charles J. CHAN (LLB, PCLL) has been appointed as Senior Counsel, a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions to the legal field.
As the founder and current Co-Head of Chambers at Courtyard Chambers, Charles has dedicated over 25 years to the Bar, establishing himself as a leading specialist in criminal law. Beyond practice, he also delivers alternative dispute resolution services and contributes to several governmental and public bodies.
In a recent interview with us, Charles reflected warmly on his CityUHK days: “Those years gave me a rock‑solid grounding in the basics and taught me to take things seriously. A strong sense of justice and responsibility were the fundamentals instilled in me. I’m deeply grateful to the teachers who pushed me and helped me discover my potential.”
He also offered generous advice to current students: “Work hard, stay humble, and be kind to the people around you. The law is ultimately about serving people, not just winning arguments.”

我們非常榮幸地宣布，香港城市大學（城大）法律學院校友陳永豪先生 (LLB, PCLL) 近日獲委任為資深大律師。此項殊榮不僅是對陳大律師專業實力的最高肯定，亦彰顯了他對法律界的卓越貢獻。
陳大律師為恪雅大律師事務所的創辦人，現為雙主席之一。他深耕法律界逾 25 載，專精於刑事訴訟。執業之餘，陳大律師亦積極投身公共事務，除提供替代爭議解決服務外，更在多個政府部門及公共機構服務。
在近日的專訪中，陳大律師回憶起在城大的日子：「那幾年的學習為我的法律基礎打下了堅實的根基，並教會我嚴謹處事。母校賦予我的正義感與責任感，是我執業的根本。我深切感謝每一位傾囊相授、啟發我潛能的老師。」
陳大律師亦寄語學生：「勤奮努力，保持謙遜，善待身邊的人。法律的終極意義在於服務社群，而非單純贏得辯論。」
