Three Research Assistant Positions (3 to 6 months)

 

Project 1: Development of a Standardised eDNA Protocol (SKLMEH Milestone Task 2-1)

Project 2: SKLMEH Marine Biodiversity Database (SKLMEH Milestone Task 2-2)

Project 3: Editing of a fish book for marine conservation and public education

 

We are recruiting three full-time Research Assistants to contribute to SKLMEH milestone tasks.

 

Key duties for Project 1

• Conduct experiments to develop standard eDNA survey approaches for various marine habitats
• Produce internal standard gene standards for eDNA quality control
• Test novel materials for eDNA passive sampling
• Handle and analyse data; prepare manuscripts
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Key duties for Project 2

• Collect and edit information for building SKLMEH Marine Biodiversity Database.
• Summarise biological descriptions, photos, and gene sequences of marine organisms.
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Key duties for Project 3

• Assist in editing fish photos
• Edit a fish book for publication
• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or above (preferred fields: Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Marine Ecology, or related subjects)
• Strong initiative and sense of responsibility
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently under pressure
