Prof Sunny Wang Unveils VR Quantum Learning Technology at International Quantum Tech Expo in New Taipei City

On 6 August 2025, Professor Sunny Xin WANG, Associate Professor at the Department of Physics, had the honor of delivering the opening remarks and presenting the “Exotic Quantum World” lecture at the inaugural International Quantum Technology Expo hosted by New Taipei City’s Education Bureau. The event marked a celebration of the UN-designated International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, showcasing Taiwan’s emerging leadership in quantum education and outreach.

During the opening session, Prof Wang’s team demonstrated their newly developed VR-based quantum education software. New Taipei City’s Education Minister CHANG Ming-Wen personally experienced the immersive platform and lauded its potential to elevate quantum literacy. This enthusiastic endorsement came in the presence of over a thousand secondary school students who gathered on-site to witness the demonstration — a vivid testament to the tool's interactive appeal and educational impact.

The expo represents a strategic milestone: it brings quantum labs to the public and empowers young learners to explore quantum mechanics through hands-on, immersive experiences. The success of the VR software not only highlights CityUHK Physics’s innovation in science outreach but also underscores our regional commitment to cultivating quantum interest and aptitude among younger generations.

Looking ahead, Prof Wang’s team remains dedicated to fostering cross-strait and regional collaboration in quantum education. We envision future joint initiatives with New Taipei City and broader Taiwanese educational stakeholders to expand access to quantum learning tools and encourage sustained engagement with quantum technology among students.
