Prof Sunny Xin Wang from the Department of Physics has been featured in the latest issue of CityUHK’s Digital Learning Magazine (Issue 2).
The magazine highlights Prof. Wang’s innovative work on integrating Mixed Reality (MR) technologies into quantum physics education, developed in collaboration with Dr Fei Dai and Dr Min-Quan He. Their project explores how immersive MR tools can transform the teaching of abstract quantum concepts such as superposition and entanglement into intuitive, interactive learning experiences.
The featured initiative introduces students to quantum phenomena through real-time 3D visualization and hands-on manipulation using MR devices. Implemented in various courses including PHY2400 – Advanced Physics for Biologists, the approach has significantly enhanced student engagement and conceptual understanding, effectively turning the classroom into an interactive quantum laboratory.
Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many reporting that MR helped make quantum mechanics “visible” and accessible for the first time. This work reflects the Department’s ongoing commitment to advancing digital pedagogy and pioneering innovative methods in STEM education.
