City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) continues to strengthen its connections with the community through creative and engaging initiatives. Following the popularity of CityUHK Milk and the well‑loved CityUHK Ice Cream with its diverse flavours, the University today (3 March) officially launched its newest dairy product — Yogurt Gelato. The launch is accompanied by an interactive experience themed “My Neighbourhood, My CityUHK”, inviting the University community to explore the new product while experiencing the creative and vibrant atmosphere of the CityUHK campus.

The new yogurt gelato comes in two flavours: plain and mango. Like the CityUHK Ice Cream products, it is made with fresh milk from the University Farm in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po. Its innovative formulation retains the signature richness of CityUHK Ice Cream while introducing a refreshing new taste and texture that promises a memorable experience.

To promote the new product and showcase the University’s commitment to sustainability, CityUHK is hosting a four‑day interactive experience from 3 to 6 March at the campus landmark, “Tunnel of Future Innovations”. Students, alumni and staff can enjoy the digital artwork “My Neighbourhood, My CityUHK” while taking part in an engaging challenge to receive a free gift. The digital artwork is a collaboration between CityUHK and a local visual artist. It integrates iconic elements of the University campus with the cultural and urban landscape of Sham Shui Po, showcasing the artistic creativity of CityUHK while fostering artistic and cultural exchange.

CityUHK arranges a special one‑day face‑painting activity at the event venue.

Participants need to take clear photos of both flavour icons, one plain and one mango, hidden in the digital artwork. Successful participants will receive a free cup of the new yogurt gelato after presenting the photos, and following CityUHK’s social media account or liking the post at the Coffee Cart (Purple Zone, 4/F, Yeung Kin Man Academic Building) on or before 6 March.

To enhance the fun of the event, CityUHK arranged a special “face painting” activity at the yogurt ice cream redemption booth, which was very well received by students. After completing the interactive challenge, students immediately queued up for the painting experience — some chose designs featuring the yogurt ice cream, while others opted for cute cartoon dairy‑cow illustrations, fully immersing themselves in the lively atmosphere.

The launch of Yogurt Gelato reflects the University Farm’s ongoing innovation in dairy product development and supports CityUHK’s broader mission of promoting sustainability. CityUHK Farm, managed by the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences, is Hong Kong’s first and only educational dairy facility and supports the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine programme. The farm provides veterinary students with unique hands‑on experience in local commercial dairy operations, enhancing their understanding of food production and food safety, and offering essential training for their future professional practice.

CityUHK Milk, CityUHK Ice Cream and the new Yogurt Gelato are all produced using fresh milk from the CityUHK Farm. Since its launch in 2023, CityUHK Milk has been widely embraced by the community. Its dynamic branding and creative positioning have also earned industry recognition, winning both the Grand Award of the Year and Best Brand Image Award at the BDA Brand Award 2025, organised by the Hong Kong Designers Association. CityUHK also shares its dairy products with the wider community through various donation initiatives, demonstrating the University’s commitment to social responsibility. The newly launched Yogurt Gelato is another example of CityUHK’s innovative spirit in dairy product development.
