Long-term support from The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust provides students with transformative opportunities to explore the world
The Joseph Lau Luen Hung Charitable Trust (the Trust) has been offering unwavering support to CityU since 2011 by providing full-time undergraduates with opportunities to participate in outbound exchange programmes, non-local internships, and other life-changing experiences. Over the years, the Trust has awarded more than 2,000 students with scholarships, bursaries and awards to support their academic and career goals.
The Joseph Lau Student Exchange Awards support students to participate in outbound exchange programmes to broaden their horizons, enrich their cultural and learning experience, and widen their social circle.

“My exchange experience at the University of Toronto was truly life-changing,” said Zhi Yongzheng, graduate of the BBA Global Business programme. “It was a happy, fruitful and valuable experience, which not only enriched my personal growth, but also helped pave the way for my future career.” During his exchange studies, Yongzheng gained profound experience in leading teams and made many friends from different countries. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Trust for giving me this chance. It helped me achieve my education and career goals.”
The Joseph Lau Non-local Internship Awards were set up to help students enhance their competitiveness and employability in the global job market.

Ai Ning, a student in the BBA Finance programme, is one of the fortunate students to have had valuable work experience in an international firm during her non-local internship.
Ning shared her internship experience at the Wuhan branch of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), including her involvement in various job duties such as calculation, research and communication. “The PwC Wuhan summer internship was a life-changing experience for me,” said Ning, “and I am deeply grateful for the indispensable support of the Awards, which allowed me to pursue my goals and explore potential opportunities in diverse areas.” Ning thanked the Trust for supporting her in such an impactful internship experience and expressed her desire to continue exploring career opportunities related to accounting in the future.
The Joseph Lau Bursaries were established for undergraduate students with proven financial needs. The Bursaries offer a lifeline to students facing unexpected financial hardships, providing them with the support they need to pursue their goals.

“The Bursaries helped me to look after my mother’s medical expenses at an extremely difficult time,” said Lam Chon-kai, a student in the BSocSc Social Work programme. He said he was grateful for the financial support that allowed him to overcome challenges and focus on his studies. “With the financial support of the Bursaries, I now have a fruitful university life as a full-time student."
