Four distinguished scholars and their research teams from City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) have been awarded grants under the HKSAR Government’s Research, Academic and Industry Sectors One-plus Scheme (RAISe+). Two of them are associated with the College of Science (CSCI).
CSCI students secured three awards in the 11th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
Professor Jijian Xu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry under the College of Science, has been honoured with the “2025 Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Award” in recognition of his critical research in batteries for green energy storage. Professor Xu will receive HK$5 million in research funding over five years.
With an increasing number of Chemistry graduates completing their journey this year, including the first graduate from the College of Science’s (CSCI) flagship programme, Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT), CSCI proudly arranged two Commencement sessions for the Graduating Class of 2025. The first session was exclusively for the Department of Chemistry, and the second was for the Mathematics and Physics Departments. Delighted guests filled up the hall and even the balcony.
In the afternoon of 14 May, the College of Science (CSCI) received 33 secondary school visitors, including 31 Form 3 students and 2 class teachers from HKSYCIA Wong Tai Shan Memorial College.
Professor Wing Tat Leung and Professor Moritz Reintjes from the Department of Mathematics of the College of Science at CityUHK received the Hong Kong Mathematical Society (HKMS) Young Scholars Award.
