18 Jun 2026 CityUHK leaps to 52nd globally in QS World University Rankings 2027, surging 11 places; Shines as World No. 2 for Citations per Faculty second only to Harvard, affirming its world-class research strength CityUHK has achieved outstanding results in the newly released QS World University Rankings 2027. Rising an impressive 11 places from last year, CityUHK is now ranked 52nd globally among more than 1,500 ranked institutions. CityUHK has once again excelled in the Citations per Faculty indicator, securing 2nd place globally and 1st in both Asia and Hong Kong for the second consecutive year.

16 Jun 2026 CityUHK rises to 47th globally in U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings 2026–2027, ranks 3rd in Hong Kong, with six subjects in global top 10 and No. 1 in Hong Kong CityUHK has achieved outstanding results in the 2026–2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings, placing 47th among more than 2,600 universities across over 100 countries and regions — a rise of 7 places from last year. CityUHK is ranked 9th in Asia and 3rd in Hong Kong.

12 Jun 2026 CityUHK scholar honoured at the Fourth National Award for Excellence in Innovation Professor Ray Cheung Chak-chung, Associate Provost (Digital Learning) at CityUHK, received a Certificate of Merit at the Fourth National Award for Excellence in Innovation in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of post-quantum cryptography, as well as his work in science communication and community service.

03 Jun 2026 CityUHK strengthens collaboration in Kazakhstan: high-level ministerial meetings and MoU with Satbayev University on AI and digital development The high-level university delegation led by Professor the Honourable Michael Ngai, Council Chairman of CityUHK, continued its visit to Kazakhstan, with important meetings with Ms Kobenova Gulzat Izbasarovna, Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Mr Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliyev, Vice-Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan.

28 May 2026 CityUHK students transform social media into an award-winning learning tool in AI Hackathon Students from CityUHK recently achieved outstanding results at the AI hackathon, HackTheEast 2026. Their innovative project, StudyRot, stood out among numerous competing teams and earned the OAX Foundation Award, demonstrating CityUHK students’ creativity and technical prowess in applying AI to real-life scenarios.

13 May 2026 CityUHK scholar elected International Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering in recognition of innovative research contributions Professor Li Wen Jung, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy) at CityUHK and Chair Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been elected an International Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). This prestigious honour recognises his distinguished contributions to micro/nanotechnology, AI-enabled sensing and sensor-based motion analytics.

13 Apr 2026 CityUHK’s STEM Career Fair 2026 achieves resounding success Jointly organised by the College of Computing, College of Engineering, College of Science, and School of Energy and Environment, STEM Career Fair 2026 successfully took place at the CityUHK earlier. As the first career event in this year and CityUHK’s sole STEM-focused fair, it served over 4,000 students across 13 departments and 27 disciplines from the organising colleges and schools.

30 Mar 2026 CityUHK joins community partners to advance low-altitude economy and smart city development On 13 March, a symposium titled “Low-altitude Economy – Opportunities and Prospects for Smart Housing and Property Management” was held at CityUHK. The event brought together over 500 participants from government, academia and industry to explore emerging trends and opportunities in integrating the low-altitude economy with smart property management.
