Background
The Innovation and Technology Commission (“ITC”) has set up the ITC STEM Internship Scheme (the “Scheme”) to encourage STEM students to gain innovation and technology (“I&T”) related work experience during their studies and to foster their interest in pursuing a career in I&T after graduation, so as to enlarge the local I&T talent pool. Under the Scheme, allowance will be provided for both local and non-local undergraduates and postgraduates enrolling in short-term internships, who are majoring in full-time STEM-related programmes funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC).

Registration of Internship Openings
Employers can register internship openings here:
- Employers' application for the Scheme (Semester B 2025/26) is from 2 January 2026 to 16 March 2026 (See Guidelines)
After vetting, eligible jobs will be posted in the job list above for students to apply. We will only notify employers if the job is not eligible.
Eligibility of STEM Internship:
- Only full-time internships that necessitate the student's physical presence at the employer's office located in Hong Kong is eligible for the scheme, with an employment period of at least 28 consecutive calendar days.
- All Semester B 2025/26 internships should be on a full-time basis (no less than 35 hours per week). Part-time internships are not eligible.
- Remote work is generally not permitted.
- Non-local students are also permitted to participate in the Scheme, provided they hold a valid visa/entry permit and No Objection Letter (NOL) issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. Additionally, endorsement/approval documents from their home institution may be required.
- The internships must be Innovation and Technology-related.
- The internships funded by the Scheme should not be arranged to fulfill compulsory graduation requirements for a degree programme.
- Employers should have adequate capacity to supervise, manage, and provide Innovation and Technology-related training and work-learning experiences to student intern(s) throughout the internship period.
Duration
- The Scheme in 2025/26 is open for applications throughout Semester A, Winter Break, Semester B and Summer 2026.
- The minimum internship duration is 28 calendar days (i.e. 4 consecutive weeks), and the maximum duration is 90 calendar days (i.e. 3 consecutive months) per student intern in one academic year (i.e. 1 September to 31 August of the following year).
Financial Arrangement
Upon successful completion of the STEM-related internship, eligible students with a satisfactory performance review will receive an allowance of HK$11,490 per month or $383 per day (prorated) with effect from 1 April 2025, which is capped at 3 months (90 days) (on an accumulative basis) in each academic year (i.e. from September to August). The allowance is fully funded by ITC and will be disbursed via CityUHK Finance Office.

Participating employers may pay the student interns a monthly honorarium on top of the allowance under the Scheme with reference to their internal policies, industry benchmarks or market rates. Employers should read carefully the Important Notes on Allowance and Financial Arrangements.
Please ensure the information provided on related documents is accurate as far as possible to facilitate the disbursement handling and speed up the process. For those cases where further clarifications or information verifications and revisions are required, the disbursement process might take longer and the interns might not receive the disbursement as anticipated.
Application Procedures (Semester B 2025/26)
All Semester B 2025/26 internships should commence no earlier than 15 January 2026, nor later than 1 April 2026. They should all end on or before 30 April 2026.

4. Upon offer confirmation to CityUHK students, employers must inform CLC by completing the Student Eligibility Check Form (https://cityu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5i0cCS8g95yCP9c) and provide the following details for cross-checking the student's eligibility. The College of Computing will perform eligibility check prior to the offer, which will require FIVE working days.

5. After receiving an offer from the company, students should submit the following documents at least FIVE working days before the internship commencement date or by 24 March 2026, whichever is earlier, by email to the College of Computing (cc.career@cityu.edu.hk) for approval. a) ITC STEM Offer Acceptance Form (College of Computing) Backdate and late submissions will not be accepted. Only eligible applications will be processed. |

6. Once the application is approved, students proceed to SIGN and SUBMIT the copy of the employment contract to the College of Computing begin the internship via email (cc.career@cityu.edu.hk). |
