Professor Yu HUANG, Jeanie Hu Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Chair Professor at City University of Hong Kong, has been honoured with the esteemed 2025 Vane Medal by the British Pharmacological Society. The award was presented by Professor Sir Mark Caulfield, President of the British Pharmacological Society, at the Pharmacology 2025 Conference in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on 17 December 2025.

The Vane Medal, established in 2004, is one of the Society’s most prestigious honours. It is named in honour of Sir John Robert Vane (1927–2004), a renowned British pharmacologist who received the Nobel Prize in 1982 for his seminal research on prostaglandins and the mechanism of aspirin’s action. The medal signifies Prof. Huang’s exceptional contributions to the fields of cardiovascular pharmacology and mechanobiology.

Prof. Huang expressed his profound gratitude for the Vane Medal, stating that he is honoured to be the first Asian pharmacologist to receive this distinction. He was also invited to deliver the Vane Medal Prize Lecture, titled “Beyond prostacyclin: the mechanical regulation of endothelial function,” which builds upon Sir John Vane’s pioneering legacy in modern vascular biology.

Prof. Huang was elected a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society in 2023 and served as an Editor for the British Journal of Pharmacology from 2018 to 2024.
