A team comprising Prof. Gigi Lo, Dr Kam Chu Han, Miss Tsz Ying Cheung and Mr Joseph Leung visited Hong Kong University Shenzhen Hospital with a group of BSc in Biomedical Sciences students on 28 January 2026. The visit offered students a valuable and unique opportunity to explore the hospital’s state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and engage directly with Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs).

During the tour, students gained insights into the high professional standards and innovative methodologies that underpin the hospital’s laboratory operations. The visit also highlighted the advanced healthcare technologies in use and provided students with a broader perspective on laboratory practices in mainland China.

The hospital administration also expressed interest in exploring potential collaborative opportunities for student placements, which could further enhance experiential learning within the programme. Overall, the visit broadened students’ understanding of international healthcare practices and underscored the value of industry exposure in biomedical education.

The department looks forward to more initiatives that connect students with leading healthcare institutions.
