On 8 August 2025, the Department of Biomedical Sciences at City University of Hong Kong hosted a one-day Summer Workshop for around 30 secondary school students from the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE). Aimed at S3 to S6 students, the programme was designed to showcase the relevance and impact of biological and biomedical sciences in everyday life.
The morning session featured a hands-on practical on ELISA, simulating COVID-19 testing and giving students valuable laboratory experience. In the afternoon, participants enjoyed a research laboratory demonstration and a guided tour of our cutting-edge facilities, offering a behind-the-scenes look at scientific research in action.
Through interactive activities and expert guidance, the workshop underscored the importance of biomedical sciences in addressing real-world challenges. The event not only deepened students’ understanding of the field but also highlighted the department’s academic offerings, inspiring a new generation of scientists.
