Drawing on his extensive experience in the real estate industry, Mr. Lau discussed the execution of ESG business strategies and the integration of sustainability into corporate functions across Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Central to the session was the exploration of NWD’s Sustainability Vision 2030+ (SV2030+). This strategic framework is anchored in three key pillars: Future-Fit Places, Organisational Resilience, and Enriched Lives. Mr. Lau explained how this vision enhances the integration of sustainability into core business operations to generate long-term economic, environmental, and social value.

A major focus of the colloquium was the concept of "Future-Fit Places," which addresses the two-way relationship between urban development and climate change. Mr. Lau examined how businesses impact the climate, while simultaneously navigating the physical and financial risks that climate change poses to property assets. He highlighted how proactive resilience strategies and innovative building designs serve as essential transition pathways to a low-carbon and sustainable economy.

By illustrating practical climate adaptation and mitigation approaches through various development and investment projects, the colloquium provided students and attendees with a comprehensive look at how these strategies are executed at a corporate level.

SEE expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Lau for sharing his valuable industry insights and for his contribution to the School’s mission of fostering sustainable innovation and academic excellence.
