The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) is delighted to welcome a new cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate students as the 2026/27 academic year begins. A series of Orientation Day events marked an exciting and supportive start for students beginning their academic journey with us.
Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine Programme
The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) programme officially welcomed its new cohort on 24 August 2026. The orientation provided an opportunity for incoming veterinary students to connect with peers, faculty and staff. Students received briefings covering essential aspects of their studies and available student support services. The day concluded with a tour of the Clinical Skills Lab and interactive activities designed to strengthen communication and teamwork within the new cohort. From 25 to 27 August, the BVM Year 1 students took part in a Teamwork and Leadership Orientation Camp, facilitated by Outward Bound Hong Kong. The camp empowered the students to develop crucial leadership and collaborative skills through challenging outdoor activities. This enriching experience fostered resilience and established a supportive culture to carry into their academic pursuits.
Master of Public Health Programme
The Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme welcomed more than 100 enthusiastic students during a dynamic two-day orientation held on 26 and 27 August. The schedule featured welcome and programme briefing sessions, interactive workshops, team-building activities, campus exploration and student presentations before invited judges. Bringing together a diverse cohort of local and international students, the orientation marked a promising start to their MPH journey and reinforced JCC's commitment to nurturing the next generation of public health leaders.
Master of Veterinary Medicine Programme
The Master of Veterinary Medicine (MVetMed) Programme welcomed its inaugural cohort on 28 August, marking the launch of JCC's newest master's programme. The orientation featured programme briefings, introductions to student support services, campus and facility tours, an introductory session in the Clinical Skills Lab, a guided visit to the Necropsy Suite, and interactive case-based discussions that highlighted the programme's evidence-based approach to clinical teaching. Students also had opportunities to connect with faculty members and peers while gaining insights into the collaborative learning environment and strong emphasis on clinical reasoning that underpin the MVetMed Programme. The event marked a promising start to their journey as future veterinary professionals.
PhD Student Orientation
On 27 August, JCC hosted the PhD Student Orientation, introducing new students to key aspects of their doctoral journey. Faculty members and a student representative shared insights into programme expectations, research training, academic development, and the support resources available throughout their studies. The event concluded with a networking session, providing valuable opportunities for students to connect with faculty members, researchers, staff, and fellow students. Serving as an important first step in their research journey, the orientation helped students build a strong foundation for success within a supportive and collaborative academic community. We look forward to seeing our new PhD students thrive as emerging researchers and scholars, contributing to advancements in animal and human health through innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
