On 5 November 2025, the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) at City University of Hong Kong proudly hosted the Annual Conference for JCC Clinical Partners 2025. This signature event brought together over 70 clinical partners, JCC faculty members and staff, and distinguished guests for an evening of connection, appreciation, and professional exchange.
The conference honoured long-standing partnerships and the commitment to enhancing clinical education and veterinary excellence. It served as a reunion and a forum for sharing, highlighting the vital role of clinical partner practices in training future veterinarians.
Prof. Vanessa Barrs, Dean of JCC, began the evening by expressing gratitude to the clinical partners for their mentorship and contributions, highlighting how their support enhances student learning and veterinary education in Hong Kong. This was followed by Dr. Cherry Lee, Interim Clinical Programme Manager, shared feedback from students regarding their clinical Extra Mural Studies (EMS) placement, underscoring the importance of practical training in boosting students’ confidence and skills.


The key highlight of the night featured an engaging multidisciplinary seminar titled “Cardiac Neoplasia: A Cardiology, Oncology and Surgery Perspective”. Featuring esteemed specialists from the CityU Veterinary Medical Centre, Dr. João Loureiro, Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology, Dr. Kate Forster, Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and Dr. Frances Taylor, Specialist in Veterinary Oncology. The presenters explored diagnostic challenges, surgical management strategies, and oncological treatments for cardiac tumours in dogs and cats, demonstrating how collaboration across specialties enhances patient outcomes.


In addition to the seminar, another memorable moment of the evening was the presentation of the Outstanding EMS Placement Provider Awards, which recognize partner practices that demonstrated exceptional dedication in hosting and mentoring our veterinary students over the years.
